Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our Lorem Ipsum generator.

Lorem Ipsum is placeholder text used in the design and typesetting industry since the 1500s. It originates from a passage in Cicero's "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" written in 45 BC. Designers and developers use it to fill layouts with realistic-looking text before the final content is available. This allows stakeholders to focus on the design and layout rather than being distracted by the meaning of the content.
We offer five unique text styles: Classic Latin (traditional Lorem Ipsum), Hipster (artisanal and trendy vocabulary), Corporate (business jargon and buzzwords), Tech Startup (development and startup terminology), and Pirate (swashbuckling seafaring language). Additionally, we offer Smart Mix (an AI-blended combination of all styles) and Themed generation (topic-based placeholder text for food, tech, nature, sports, space, and music).
Smart Mix blends vocabulary from all five text styles based on a creativity slider you control. At 0% creativity, the output is predominantly classical Latin. As you increase the creativity level, more words from Hipster, Corporate, Tech, and Pirate styles are mixed in evenly. At 100%, all five styles contribute roughly equally. This creates varied, dynamic placeholder text that feels more natural than single-style output.
Our themed generator includes curated word banks for six categories: food and cooking, technology and programming, nature and outdoors, sports and athletics, space and astronomy, and music and sound. You can type any related keyword such as "restaurant," "coding," "mountain," "basketball," "galaxy," or "piano" and the generator will match it to the most relevant theme. If no specific match is found, it blends vocabulary from all themed banks.
Yes. Toggle the "HTML <p> tags" option to wrap each paragraph in proper HTML paragraph tags. When enabled, the output shows the HTML markup that you can copy directly into your code. This is especially useful for web developers building prototypes or templates who want to paste placeholder content directly into their HTML files without manual formatting.
The Flesch Reading Ease score is a widely-used readability metric that rates text on a scale from 0 to 100. Higher scores indicate easier text. A score of 90-100 is easily understood by 5th graders, 60-70 is standard (easily understood by 8th-9th graders), and below 30 is best understood by college graduates. We calculate this score for every generated text to help you understand the complexity of the placeholder content relative to your target audience.
No. All text generation happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do not send your settings, inputs, or generated text to any server. Your generated content exists only in your browser's memory and is never stored, logged, or transmitted. When you close the page, the generated text is gone unless you have copied or downloaded it.
You can generate up to 50 paragraphs, 100 sentences, or 1,000 words in a single generation. Each paragraph contains 3 to 7 sentences, and each sentence contains 5 to 15 words. These limits ensure fast generation performance while providing enough text for virtually any design or development project.
Absolutely. All text generated by our tool is free to use in any project, whether personal, commercial, or open-source. Since the generated text is composed of randomized combinations of words from our curated word banks, it does not constitute copyrighted content. You are free to use it in mockups, prototypes, templates, demos, or any other purpose without attribution.
Once the page has loaded, the generator works entirely offline since all processing happens in your browser. You do not need an internet connection to generate, copy, or download text. However, you will need an internet connection to initially load the page. For repeated offline use, consider bookmarking the page after it has loaded.
